Ayant partag\u00e9 la sc\u00e8ne avec The National, Grizzly Bear ou My Morning Jacket, les membres du groupe participent \u00e9galement au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre Sgt. Peppercorn\u2019s Marathon (une performance de 14 heures salu\u00e9e par Sir Paul McCartney). Apr\u00e8s la disparition brutale en 2024 du producteur de l\u00e9gende Steve Albini avec qui ils devaient collaborer, The Whiles a finalis\u00e9 ses projets en toute autonomie : l&rsquo;opus <em>Hummingbird<\/em>, m\u00e9ditation sur l&rsquo;\u00e2ge m\u00fbr, et <em>Colors of the Year (2026)<\/em>, r\u00e9invention compl\u00e8te de leur premier album acclam\u00e9 sorti en 2004. Nous plongeons aujourd&rsquo;hui dans trois extraits saisissants de ce double retour sous la banni\u00e8re d&rsquo;Anyway Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le premier volet, \u201cPetty on the Radio\u201d (issu de <em>Hummingbird<\/em>), s&rsquo;\u00e9panouit dans une esth\u00e9tique Pop Rock, Jangle Pop et Power Pop. Le titre se d\u00e9ploie comme un hymne doux-amer sur la solitude inattendue et la difficult\u00e9 de nouer des amiti\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte. Port\u00e9 par un groove rythmique rappelant le \u00ab\u00a0Ticket to Ride\u00a0\u00bb des Beatles, des refrains teint\u00e9s de samba et des vibrations directement h\u00e9rit\u00e9es de Tom Petty, le morceau installe un contraste saisissant entre la m\u00e9lancolie du propos et la clart\u00e9 de sa production. Con\u00e7u comme une m\u00e9ditation po\u00e9tique, le titre puise son inspiration dans l&rsquo;\u0153uvre de John Keats et s&rsquo;appuie sur un jeu de guitare d\u00e9licat qui \u00e9voque imm\u00e9diatement la sensibilit\u00e9 de Nick Drake.
